Websites aren’t thought of very often when companies are looking at their branding. They SHOULD be. Websites are usually the first point of contact a potential customer will have with you online and having a website that is on-brand with your company is a big must.
Did you know 93% of business purchase decisions start with a search engine search, meaning you only reach a protentional 7% without a website.
Keeping it on-brand
It’s important to keep your website on-brand with the rest of your presence, online and offline. Keeping a website is fairly easy to do but is often forgotten when building one yourself. Start this by keeping the colours of your website the same as your branding, heading colours, buttons and link colours are an easy way to do this.
Another way to do this, is when uploading content to your website. Don’t just upload the first graphic you see, take it into editing software and ensure the brand colours are used throughout it and everything you upload. This will help create unity throughout the site. You can check this out by going through P99’s website or heading to a website we recently worked on, Sleek Surface Pro.
Behind the scenes
Having a great looking website is great, having a great looking website that works is a must many people don’t do. There are many aspects that make a website great, search engine optimisation (SEO), speed, social media integration, and linking to services such as Google My Business.
The above are easy enough to do that you can do them yourself right now. The following tools are a great way to get started.
- Yoast SEO – This is a plugin for WordPress websites that allows you to easily improve your SEO by giving you a score for each of your pages and posts to ensure they show up in the search results.
- Pingdom Speed Test – This a great free tool that you can use to check the overall speed of your website and look at exactly what is slowing down your website. This will allow you to remove specific assets that are slowing your website down.
- Google My Business – This one is important if you are a local business, Google My Business will allow you to link your website to a listing throughout Google’s services (search & maps) to make it easier for customers to find your brand.
When building a website, there are two main structures used, these include a single page and multi-page structures.
A single-page website is made up of one page that usually contains a signup form and links to the companies social media accounts. Single page websites are often used for apps that only need one page and professionals that want to have an online presence in the form of their website.
- App landing page
- Coming soon
A multi-page website, like the name, consists of multiple pages used to display different information on each. Here at P99, we use a multi-page structure to show off our previous work, services, the posts we write (like this one) and our contact page. The home page usually includes all of these in one page giving the viewers an overview of everything we do.
- eCommerce store
- Digital magazines
